Ed,
We made it home Saturday pretty much without incident although it started
raining shortly out of Eugene. By the time we got to Yamhill, it was raining
pretty hard and the linotype was pretty wet.
We had some difficulties getting it off the trailer. I think it's heavier than
the Model 14 or Model 5 and I think the legs are somewhat different although I
haven't measured them. It took us a couple of hours to slide it down into my
garage. By then, everything was wet. I couldn't have picked a worse "dry" day.
I squeeged as much water out of the garage as I could, then turned up the heat,
I squeeged as much water out of the garage as I could, then turned up the heat,
and setup a big fan to move the moist air out of there and into the shop. I
used rags and paper towels to dry any water I could see on the linotype and I
emptied most of a can of WD40 on it. I oiled all of the oil holes.
It seems to have survived.
Thanks again,
Bill Spurling
