  An early advertising brochure from the Mergenthaler Printing Company which explains what a Linotype is and what it does. The front cover carrys a nice picture of a Square-Base Linotype. The Mergenthaler Printing Company was founded in 1886. Mergenthaler sold his interest in the company in 1888. The Mergenthaler Linotype Company was founded in 1890 when the Square-Base Linotype was introduced.
